Plex always displays incorrect aspect ratio

All my videos in 16:9 (should be letter boxed at the top on my 24" ACD) are in 4:3 and letter boxed on the bottom. How do I do stop this from happening? It's very annoying, VLC opens them fine but Plex is a lot nicer of an app.
