Plex: Changing Skin

Am I missing something? I want to change from the default Plex skin to the Simplex skin, I have placed the folder in /users/library/application support/plex/skins, opened the app, gone to preferences, appearance, skin, and changed it to Simplex, but after this nothing happens.

The skin name is greyed out, and when I press menu/esc or enter a new part of the preferences menu, the skin is reset to default.

Am I missing something obvious here?

I also tried this. I selected the skin I wanted, hit "download" and then nothing happened. The skin wasn't in Plex and seemingly nothing had happened, with and without git.

I feel really stupid that this is happening.
