Hi, I currently have a AT&T iPhone 4 and 4S, I am going to travel to Taiwan in April and would probably need to unlock both phones so I can use it oversea with the oversea SIM cards. I remember there use to be sticky tutorial thread(s) on this forum but I can't seem to find it anymore. Can someone link me to the thread?

Will JB be required to unlock the phone? And are there any downsides unlocking the iPhones?

TIA.

What's the baseband of you iPhones?

Are you talking about the Modem Firmware?
iPhone 4S
Version 5.0.1 (9A405)
Modem Firmware 1.0.13

iPhone 4
Version 5.0.1 (9A405)
Modem Firmware 04.11.08

You might have a chance with the iPhone 4 if you are on iOS 4.3.3 or later because the gevey sim can work. But on the 4S you are out of luck.

googled "gevey sim" for the iPhone 4, but my iPhone 4 is already upgraded to iOS 5. So I guess it's no good? :(

Yup out of luck. So as of right now there are no unlocks. So if you want phone service in Taiwan you are going to have to find another phone to use.
