hey all,
dropped my old macbook the other day (yes big mistake) and broke off the screen.

as i have some important files on it that i saved just after my last timecapsule backup (groan) i'd like to try and recover those files.

not sure if the hdd is stuffed but i tried connecting it to an external monitor and it turns on fine but doesn't seem to load up.

i also tried connecting it to another mbp i have around with a firewire cable and doing the 'holding down the T button while restarting' trick and it seems to be able to read the windows bootcamp partition but not the main partition where my files are stored.

am i doing something wrong? what else can i try? pls help. thanks!

I would remove the hard drive, place it in an external enclosure, and see if you can connect it to another computer.

You can do the same by using a FireWire cable and another Mac.

Also, you can visit the Apple Store Genius Bar with an appointment and they can see if your hard drive is okay.
