this will be my first iphone. when i get my iphone will i have to connect it to itunes at all. i'm getting it during my lunch break from work and i work in a school district so we can't dload and install software on the computers. i would like to know so that if i do i can dload the new itunes and whatever else on my personal laptop and then take it to work.

Nope. For the first time you can setup without iTunes.
 
I strongly suggest downloading and installing the latest iTunes right now.

Tomorrow, iTunes servers will probably be crushed with people hitting it.

Plug in for the first sync! If you transferring large apps etc pre-n is slower than USB!
 
I'd also recommend downloading the essential apps (facebook, twitter, etc) onto your laptop now (through itunes store) because the servers are going to be hit hard with downloads tomorrow!
