I have a 15 inch slightly used mac book pro and I'm comfortable with it but it's still new to me. My question is about my charger.

When I plug it in, the orange light comes on but it says it's not charging. See pic:

As you can see, it's plugged in but says not charging.

Then after a minute, it changes to this:

89% but 19 minutes battery life??

...................

However, if I unplug my charger, it changes to this:

Now I have 2 hours and 25 minutes of battery life.

I've unplugged the charger, shut down my computer, took out and reinserted the battery but nothing changed.

If it goes from this

to this

then that is okay, as the second screenshot shows your MBP charging (see, what it says is the Power Source in the 2nd and 3rd screenshot) and the 19 minutes is the time left to charge the rest of the battery.

I have a flunky charging experience too, sometimes my 2009 MBP will do the same as yours.

it can take a bit for the not charging status to go away on older macs from what i remember of my old 12" powerbook. it would say that while it figured out what was going on.

when it is plugged in and charging the time displayed reflects the estimated amount of time until the battery is completely charged hence, when you unplug it it then estimates how much time you have until the battery is dead.
