Plz help another kid stuck in grey screen

Hey guys I've been researching this to no avail and I really need some answers. Its stuck on the grey screen like everyone else's is. I can't seem to make it run it in safe mode(holding shift), I can't get it to run in verbose mode...I think it stops loading, I've tried putting in both the leopard disk and the restart OS X disk in superdrive and nothing still just runs and remains hot. Final think I haven't tried is the firewire method...though I don't understand how it works to be completely honest. Any help would be appreciated just walk me through this I need my computer.
