hi i got a week old macbook and im a new osx user, i am getting REALLLLY slow download speeds on azureus but when i downlod the same torrent on my sis's hp they go real fast. plz help me resolve this.

they usually wong go higher than 600bytes whereas on the hp i get up to 100kbs+

your help will be much appreciated

Torrent speeds vary based on the number of seeders. MacBooks use some of the best wireless cards on the market. If it's the same torrent, either she got more people seeding her, is using an ethernet connection, or both.

While I suffer lower speeds on my MacBook than my pc it's because 99.9% of the time in my opinion. That the pc is hardwired via ethernet to the router, and the MacBook uses wireless which is subject to more degradation of signal, and therefore possible speed loss.

i just ran a firewall test on azureus and it says my port is closed and reports nat problem.. /Users/RiFF/Desktop/Picture 1.png

what do i do. thanks for your time peeps

You know that notice by the blank space when you made your thread title? Yeah, listen to it.

sorry bro i just realised what you where talkin about, i didnt see that when i made this thread but i know now, thanks. but next time you advise me plz do so politely, thanks

You should forward the port(s) used by Azerus to your Macbook.
This is usually done by accessing your router in a webbrowser and configuring through your routers webinterface..

This can be tricky though if you don't know to do it :)

Here's an idea, stop using torrents?

ok i will try that but i dont know how lol are they any guides??thanks for your help

3 tips

1)port forward and trigger
2)make sure their is many seeders on your torrent
3)make sure your ISP isn't throttling your bittorrent packets
