Plz help with video issue

Im currently making a movie through imovie, and cropping bits out using Quicktime Pro. Everything has been great except one file that is supposed to be about 30 mins long, appears to be only a few seconds long and the screen is green when I try to play it in Quicktime or upload it to imovie. Yet when opened with VLC its the full length and it has the video and audio. I dont understand because this is the only file out of about 30 I have.
