I've been looking for an affordable Mac friendly pci Sata controller. Lightbulbfun linked to this acard pci card in a previous thread & at $16 a pop I gave it a shot. I am happy to report that it works like a charm - plug n play in Leopard.

It's bootable (I haven't tried yet) & works back to 7.5. The only weird thing is that the drive icons are scsi icons, but yanno no biggie.

The listing does not specify and the card itself does not specify other than Serial-ATA so I would assume 1 speeds. I have had some speed bumps along the way today. When I rebooted the QS, the card all of the sudden could not utilize the onboard rom and the driver would not load. To fix this (with some help from Lightbulbfun), I downloaded both the driver update and the firmware update w/ rom installer 2.16v. I searched under aec-6290m to find the correct update at the following url.

The next hurdle was for whatever reason, when I had this sata card in the QS with a Maxtor DiamondMax 80gb pata drive, the system would crash on boot up. I ended up removing it - no biggie really as I had an ide enclose I'll stick it in.

Anyhow, after hammering this out, the QS is working & stable with two sata ports.
