Greetings,

Hoping one of the G4 gurus can help with tips to resolve a minor issue I am experiencing on my G4 Powermac.

System is a G4 Digital audio with fully functioning networking equipment in both 10.4 and 10.5, with the only exception being, in 10.5, establishing a network connection to another Mac is dog slow! When selecting the system on my local LAN, it takes ages to establish a connection. System appears to ignore button presses to "connect as" and makes me wait. I can (eventually) get a connection to a server, from there browsing and such is ultra fast. Strangely, when attempting to connect to another share on the same system, I have to again wait 2-5 minutes for it to establish.

Really confused as to why 10.5 is ultra slow, yet 10.4 is totally fine for me.

Things tried
- deleted keychain instances of all local server connections
- Completed repair permissions on my boot volume
- reset P-Ram

The inverse, my connecting to that system with my G5, Mac Pro running Ventura, or other systems is totally fine.

Are you using SMB from the G4 to connect, or AFP? I have to assume SMB since you say your Mac Pro is running Ventura. Just want to establish what kind of connection protocol you're using first.

Both are enabled, and I have tried one or the other as well. Strangely no issues on other devices, it is just the G4 that is super slow to establish new connections. Completely baffling to me.
