ya the faster ram will work without a problem it just downgrades itself to run at the desired speed of pc5300.

so ya that will work in your mac. unless you can get the pc5300 cheaper than go with pc6400.

Maybe - it will depend on which MacBook you have - if it is a MacBook 1,1 or 2,1 then 6400 will probably work fine.

If it is a late 2007 onwards (3,1 or 4,1 - Santa Rosa models) then it probably will NOT work !!!

Which model number do you have ?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MacBook

Santa Rosa and Penryn (Late 2007, Early 2008, respectively) used an 800MHZ FSB, meaning slower memory may not work well or even be recognized.

However, if you pop faster memory into a machine that supports a slower frequency, it usually just defaults to the fastest speed supported.
