--Pocket Planes Tips--

Bux
- Not transferable from Tiny Tower, sorry.
- Used to buy planes / plane parts, rush an existing flight, upgrade a plane, gift a plane part to a friend.
- Can be earned with special passengers and cargo. Can also be "earned" by "catching" them on a plane that is flying somewhere.
- Each new level gives you 3 bux.

Planes
P = Passengers only
C = Cargo only
M = Both Passengers and Cargo. Some planes go overweight on either P or C.

Class 1 are all local planes. They can land anywhere, but their max range is limited. All planes before level 13, plus such one-off planes as blimps and copters, fall into this category.
Ideal planes - Mohawk (3 slots), Kangaroo (4 slots)
Special plane - Supergopher (highest Class 1-only max range plane, only 1 slot, recommended for the Nome-Wellington nonstop achievement)

Class 2 are regional planes. They only land at BLUE and RED cities. You start getting C2 planes/parts at level 13 or via gifts from friends.
Ideal planes - Pearjet (5 slots), Aeroeagle (6 slots)

Class 3 are basically international planes. They only land at RED cities, nothing else, and you start getting C3 planes at level 20 or via gifts from friends. Neither Hawaii nor Australia has any RED cities for these planes to land on, so keep this in mind when you expand your operations.
Special planes - C-130 Hercules (more C than P), Starship (highest max-range plane in the game, fastest plane in game alongside Concorde, but only 3 slots)

Each plane has 3 upgrade levels (paid in Bux) for:
Range (fuel tanks) - increases the max range of the plane
Speed (engine) - increases the flying speed of the plane
Money (carbon fiber) - increases the money you can get for a given flight path

Plane slots can be added at any time with money.

You get a 25% money bonus applied to ALL passenger and cargo jobs going to the same destination. This bonus does not affect special jobs that are paid in Bux.

Airports
The cheapest trans-global route (in terms of flying costs) is the following:
Los Angeles - New York - London - Tehran - Beijing - Tokyo (all RED airports)
You need both the Class 2 Pearjets and Aeroeagles with fully upgraded max range to cross the NY-London (RED) / Philadelphia-Madrid (BLUE) section. A Class 3 Fogbuster can cross the Atlantic without any upgrades.

Each airport, regardless of class level, can be upgraded for more jobs and layover slots (think the Hub-Spoke system for real-world airlines). The airport must have no planes before any upgrades can proceed. Likewise, the airport must be empty if you want to close it for any reason.

You can build new airports anywhere, even if you don't intend to fly to/from them right away.

Using the Advertise Airport feature increases the demand for jobs from other airports for 8 hours - you will be asked whether to renew the ad campaign before it expires.

Any city marked in RED TEXT means your planes cannot fly into it, and any planes residing at its airport cannot fly out. Any plane already inbound to these cities will land as usual, but are not allowed to leave until you either manually remove them (see next paragraph) or wait for the bad event to end. The latter may not be a good idea as some airports can be closed for days (!).

Any idle plane (no passengers and cargo onboard) can be removed from the airport - they go to the Hangar. From the Hangar screen, you can choose where they restart flying (paid with Bux). It's handy if you have planes that need to be deployed elsewhere.

Market
All new planes and their parts can be purchased with Bux. If buying the parts separately, you need one of each Controls, Engine, and Body to make a plane.

Parts screen
Under the Build tab, click on the BUILD button to create the new plane; this assumes you have a full set as described above. Building new planes this way can save precious Bux when you get to Class 2+ planes.

Gifting:
There is no provision to gift an entire plane to a friend. Instead, you must break the plane into its parts (if it isn't already), then gift the desired parts individually.

Selling planes:
Scrap the planes in the Hangar screen, then in the Parts screen, sell the residual parts for money.

Flight Crew and Events
The first event in the Events screen is a Global Event, highlighted in LIGHT BLUE. In a nutshell, it's a gamewide competition. Your standing depends on the number of jobs your flight crew sends to the city currently listed in that event. When the Global Event ends, you earn some Bux based on how well your flight crew did.

Other events are more of a general goal list.

All events rounding out the bottom of the Events screen are adverse weather conditions. See the RED TEXT section in the Airports heading. Note that some of these allow you to fly to/from after a certain amount of time has elapsed, and some are not affected by these conditions to the point where you cannot fly in/out of it.

BUGS
n/a

Update 1.0.4 fixed the planes losing any upgrades if you leave them in hangar before closing the game app. Also fixed the bug that allows you to upgrade the plane mid-flight.

Yep, I'm playing over here. I've got some parts I'm not using if anyone wants them. Hit me up on Gamecentre...

Also, what the dicks is up with Atlanta being closed for a whole day? 3 of my 9 planes are there .

Yep, having fun a couple time a day popping into it. If you are looking for flight crews, there are gaming oriented forums like neogaf and toucharcade that will give you a better gamer community than here.

I'm also playing this. It's a simple yet addictive game.

Feel free to add me on Game Center: nathd0gg

Thanks.

Thanks for the parts for the pearjet Jcpb. I'm currently racking up the miles to Moscow now for the flight crew task.

I don't think I've got any parts which will be of any use to you, but if you let me know what you need I will be happy to send them onto you if I happen to acquire them.

Yeah, I'm aiming for Moscow as well, 1/5 of my current level in. I might retire my Birchcrafts (have 2) by the time Class 3's start showing up.

Meanwhile, I'll save up any Aeroeagle parts for you.

edit #1: cheapest long-haul route according to the sites SkippyScud referred to: Los Angeles - New York - London - Tehran - Beijing - Tokyo (all Class 3 cities); optionally, add Honolulu (Class 2) before LA. Pearjets with max upgraded range are the minimum to fly through this entire route.

Use the layover slots in the Class 2/3 cities (preferably with airport upgrades) to concentrate far-away jobs, then let Class 2+ planes fly them for max profit.

I've recently ditched all but two of my airports and planes to I can get some decent routes built up, went on a mad buying spree for a while which made next to nothing in profit.

I'm making more from these two airports/planes than I did before!

Level 20 = access to Class 3 planes. I still need a Fogbuster-M Controls to make mine. The parts cost 30 bux, buying the plane outright costs 175 lol

I see our flight crew is almost in the top 100. I wonder if we can make it. I have quite a few trips to make to Moscow, so hopefully that will help a bit.

bug - fixed as of version 1.0.4

Normally, you cannot upgrade the plane (range/speed/money) while it's flying. BUT do this - in the plane's stats screen, go to the pilot's costumes. Buy any costume for 1 bux. When you exit the costume screen, you'll see the upgrade button as if the plane has landed.

Great tip and this does indeed work - thanks for sharing.

I am at level 23 and working hard towards level 24 so I can get ahold of a Cyclone. Already have one Fogbuster M and a handful of Pearjets. :)

My game center handle is same as on here (drummingcraig). Feel free to add me. I have quite a few parts of anyone needs some.

I think it would be good if it showed you how many people are part of your flight crew, even if they haven't yet completed any jobs.

Any of you guys have a spare Starship Controls? I have an extra Starship Engine that I don't need.
