Hey, where do you get a decent microphone for a smalltime podcast show with some dabbling on the side for vocal music? I like to sing over existing songs and hear myself because my voice is so divine.

No seriously. I looked at the one from Samson through eBay which is dubbed as the perfect podcasting kit and is around $125 shipped.

Is this a good kit to start with?

Thanks

I'd suggest spending just a little more and getting something that's much better than the Samson brand microphone. The specs on the Samson mikes are usually near the bottom of the heap. Nady is another "bottom" brand. MXL is a little better. Some CAD brand mikes offer good specs at low prices.

If you're looking for a USB solution, for their price, the AT mics are hard to beat. Good specs, low noise and clean sound. Audio-Technica AT2020 USB Condenser Microphone ($149)

At a somewhat higher price, there's the R0DE Podcaster USB Microphone ($229)

I like the ArsTech. Can you recommend a good pop filter or will one not be required?
