Hey guys. Would really like to exclusively use my iPad Pro to record my podcasts, but there are a few issues I'm running into.
First of all, my setup..
- 9.7 iPad Pro
- Blue Yeti USB Mic
- Lightning to USB adapter
This is a multi-person podcast, typically with 2-3 guests in addition to me. We use Google Hangouts to livestream the show directly on Youtube (audio only) and then I download that file from Youtube, convert to MP3, and edit/publish the show from there.
So the main issue I can't seem to get around is getting the iPad to output audio to the Yeti, considering the Yeti has a headphone jack to monitor the input. When I plug headphones into the iPad's audio port, it switches off the Yeti as the input.
When I switch the headphones back to the Yeti, the Yeti acts as my input, but the audio of my co-hosts is then output through the iPad's speakers, which of course creates a feedback problem.
Any ideas or help on how to remedy this?
I've found a workaround for another issue I'm having, but I'll post that as well in case anyone has a better idea. Whenever I attempt to create the live youtube event on the ipad, it forces me to open and use the Hangouts app. The app allows me to join a call and talk with my co-hosts; however, there's no button within the app to make the show go live. The workaround I have for this is starting the live show from my desktop, which is in another room, and then joining the call on my iPad from a different YouTube account.
