I woke up this morning to like 2gb left on my m1 iMac. Found out over 100GB of podcasts downloaded to my iMac. I deleted them all. I come home from work and more downloaded when I was gone despite automatic downloads being turned off. Is this some kind of bug? This is very annoying to have to constantly delete podcasts from my iMac. Anyone have any suggestions for a fix?

Log out of your iCloud user. What are your sync settings like in iCloud? Same as Podcasts?
Edit: this was the only thing I could find relating to your issue: https://tidbits.com/2021/05/04/prevent-apples-updated-podcasts-app-from-eating-your-storage/

Hope it helps.
