podcasts disappear

I do not sync my iPod Touch with my iTunes library (Mac). I dragged an mp3 of a podcast to the iPod and it showed up with the music. I Get Info on the track to change the support type to Podcast instead of Music, and the file disappears. I cannot find it anywhere so I opened a 3rd party app that allows me to see the tracks on the iPod, and the files are on there. However, they do not show up in iTunes or in the iPod itself.

Anyone know how I can get to these files?
