podcasts has problems in 11.3

Podcasts in 11.3 is having serious problems
-> right clicking on a podcast to get the drop down menu makes the app unresponsive
-> quitting and reopening does not fix the problem, have to force quit
-> can no longer drag a podcast to the desktop or Music

I've got the rather bizarre issue that, when I open Podcasts for the first time it shows the Welcome window, but gives me no way to close it. No buttons to press, nor will clicking the background app make it disappear.

I don't know if they are related problems, but this has me truly baffled...
