I just picked up a few cases from Poetic for my first iPhone since the 3gs. This one in particular is called the "Affinity" line. I'll start out with what I don't like about the cases, followed with what I do like.

What I don't like:
-Excessive branding: Unlike most android devices, Apple has maintained a standard of keeping their devices clean and free of carrier branding. In order to maintain that simple and elegant look, (clear) case makers must also abide by that standard. Where I don't have an issue with the subtle, frosted "P" (for Poetic) in the center on the rear of the case.. I do have an issue with the 2 inch "Affinity" cascading down the right side. I feel like it takes away from the uniformed Tuxedo look that this case demands.

-Crystal clear finish: Maybe I'm nitpicking here but hear me out. For those people who have purchased crystal clear cases in the past, I am sure you are aware of 2 issues.. 1 immediate and 1 long term. First, the greasy fingerprints are a never ending battle on a crystal clear case. I find myself wiping the case with a microfiber cloth at least 15 times a day, excessive? Yes.. but it helps with my OCD. Second, I have found on almost 100% of crystal clear cases, they have always managed to turn yellow after a few short months. Giving Poetic credit, I do have to say this doesn't feel like the dreaded pure TPU but almost like a hybrid between Poly carbonate and TPU. Will this help with that inevitable yellowing effect? Only time will tell.

Now with that out of the way....

What I do like:

-Fitment & cutouts: Absolutely perfect and accurate. Satisfying snap when applying the case, and easy enough to take off without having to torque the phone. Cutouts are precise down the 1/100000mm even around the smallest external microphones, overall very impressed.

-Protection: Slim? Yes but they have focused on all impact points, the corners. Slightly raised corner bumpers give an extra layer of drop protection without sacrificing the "in the hand" feel that you love about Apple devices. The side rails also feature a Diamond plate grip design for better than average grip.

-Design: The first time I saw this case the first thing that came to mind was "wow, that looks like a tuxedo for my iPhone". Clean design, and the raised uniformed lines that run parallel down the back give your fingers something to rest on when holding this massive device.

Overall I would definitely recommend this case. For the price it would be a hard to find a better overall case for your $700-$1000 device.
