Over the past few years, I've noticed little-to-no change on this, and just can't see how they are lowering...
All the manufacturers do is increase the size but push the price up accordingly, to more or less match the price per TB on the previous sizes.
I used WD Red's as a guide, as they are one (if not THE) most popular drives for mass data storage
– certainly among consumers/prosumers, at least.
Here's a photo of a quick spreadsheet I knocked up.
It shows UK£ pricing on WD Red HDDs sold on Amazon.co.uk, circa March 2018. (US$ and EU€ pricing show the same trend.)

8's: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01BYLY4DM
10's: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0719498XY
(Note: prices fluctuate up & down slightly, hourly! And the 8 & 10TB models are not sold in plain packaging.)
As you can see, a quick visual skim down the price/TB columns tells you they are all around the £30 price/TB.
Yet how many articles do we read online stating 'hard drive prices continuing to fall' or similar...?
AFAICT, this is complete BS. Prices are certainly NOT falling, they remain exactly the same! You're paying the same per TB, regardless of the size you want.
i.e. 8 or 10TB drives are not giving any cost economies over 3 or 4TB drives.
Anyone else notice or have a view on this?
[doublepost=1522387442][/doublepost]P.S. You gotta love how putting a HDD in a box on the 6TB increases the price from £170 to £200 – £30 for a cardboard box you'll likely throw away, lol!
Similar for the 4TB's.
