The outer aluminium case I would venture to say as attractive.

But on a whole, I would rate it as neither pretty or ugly, but simple average, OKAY.

The construction is excellent but the actual look of the computer is completely hideous.

I think when a lot of people say they like the new laptops what they mean is they like the construction rather than the appearance.

I love it when the screen is black. Then, it just looks perfect. The wholly black screen area; beautiful! And while many people complain about the new black/silver combination, I love it to pieces. I like the new MacBooks and MacBook Pros way better than the MacBook Air, with its silver border around the screen. And boy, does it feel sturdy or what?!...

I love BOTH :D Construction makes it feels sleek and refined when you touch/hold it and Look IMO makes it look much better than the old one-color scheme MBs.
I think it's absolutely gorgeous...

Dunno about the gloss or anything else.... but the rounded curve thing is what differentiates it from the crowd! Again only Apple could do it and seemingly... the do pay a premium for it!

Threads like these are pointless...whatever Apple churns out, majority will like it regardless.

I disagree with Daneoni's comment. These threads are the opportunity that some people need to hate it.

I personally (sigh, I wish I could say otherwise) really like the look. All laptops in the next two years will look like this.

for all intents and purposes they could have made a 13.3" macbook pro using the old design
or just made a silver macbook same as the old design
or a macbook out of aluminium (or would that be a 13" MBP?)
so yeah who knows what goes through designers first.
Just be glad they kept something from the CLASSIC design era!

They're just OK. Checked one out at my campus store.

I think PC's (especially HP) have really climbed ahead in the design department in the past few years. Apple no longer has the exclusive title of "good-looking notebook-maker". Seeing tons of both HP's and Macs at my school (nobody really has anything else), the HP's tend to look better, IMO. We've all seen the MBP before, and the new MB looks just like it. The HP's look glossy, smooth, well-built, and high-end, even if they all aren't.

Yeah, but there's only so much you can do to regular grade plastic to make it look good. People have been whining for aluminum MacBooks for a while now, and we got em. Just not the screen that we would have hoped for >_<.

I like the new model, except for the gloss. I rather have it in matte, and it would be perfect. The new model macbook looks better than the new mbp, I think they really screwed up with the speaker grills. I like the old mbp design but love the new macbook. :D
