Well on my other forum you can actually make a poll and people can vote. Right now i see that here at mac rumors that is not an option. So I have been reading here about this and there are lots of peeps that need it and also do not. I just thought it would be cool to actually get a number. So I will try to do this the old fashion way. Lets keep a tally.

I for one could use the gps for my business so I will start with saying its a big selling feature for me and if it does not have it i will not be getting it.

so if you will not buy the 3g iphone if it does not have gps. vote for gps and vice versa
Thanks guys and girls
and for anyone wondering, i have never owned an iphone.

1 for GPS
0 for no gps

mod edit: Poll added for you.

I voted 'yes', although it's maybe a touch too strong. My current phone has GPS and runs TomTom - I would REALLY like to be able to do the same with the iPhone, but I might still be tempted even without. Maybe. :p

I think for those of us who already have an iPhone, adding 3G alone is not a compelling reason to upgrade. Throw GPS into the mix and suddenly the iPhone is infinitely more useful. And with the growing trend towards location based services, it would seem like a missed opportunity for Apple if it didn't include GPS.

No GPS = no upgrade for this Dog unless they add something really great that we haven't foreseen.

i'm not even gonna get a 3g/gps version.
the one i have is sufficient enough for what i do with it.

It isn't neccessity, but surely it would come in handy.
Lookin forward to it no mather GPS is there or not :)

If it doesn't have GPS, I will wait until the price drops to get one or get a different phone that does have GPS. I have gotten lost EVERY DAY THIS WEEK. Both walking and driving, and I am definitely looking forward to a not-getting-lost July.

If there is no gps I might just get one of the first gen if they are around cheap. Or another phone completely.

I agree, but if GPS was going to make the price steeper, then it wouldn't be worth it to me. I really hope the monthly price, even with 3G, is the same as the current model. Pretty much that's my biggest worry, and the thought that the new iPhone is only 3G as an upgrade, and it adds nothing else. That would be very dissapointing.

--Here's to hoping it's released monday--

Nope

Would I like it? Sure

Is it mandatory? Not at all

I really don't use my iPhone to know where I am specifically located as I usually have a clue anyway :)

I just want faster internet, battery, and more space :)

I definitely want GPS on the phone. A solid GPS system integrated with google maps would be amazing in my opinion. Personally, I've been in the market for a new GPS for the car, but with the pending possibilities of the new iPhone having it, I've been eagerly anticipating.

3G with GPS - 100% purchase for me.
3G without - 50/50...

I really hope that they did something about the maximum speaker output of the phone though. I would have liked the phone to be a little on the louder side, and especially with GPS integration, a loud speaker seems very necessary.
