After Apple surpassed Microsoft's Market cap for the first time since the '80's (and arguably, the first time it matters), I feel personally, since the conclusion of the first "Pirates of Silicon Valley", there is more than enough story, drama, and great closure now to commission a sequel.

Do you agree?

... and does anyone have an "in" with the original producers to give them the idea to do this? I'd love to see it.

Pirates of Silicon Valley was made at a time when Apple was pretty much thought to be dead or irrelevant while Microsoft seemed unstoppable. The whole plot revolved around that point and you can sense it. If you were to try to create a second version of it today, it just wouldn't be the same. Also, when it came out, computers were still "not popular" with the masses so it was a very niche film only favored by tech geeks and never really connected with mainstream people.

in retrospective its actually quite a lame movie (from a film and technically perspective) but due to the resurgence of Apple, the Woz, and Steve...interest in it sparked and it turned into a cult movie.

I think a part 2 should be made, and I voted as such, but I'm not sure how much there is to make it off of. Microsoft has copied Mac in a lot of way, especially interface-wise, but not enough to warrant a full length movie. Maybe if they come out with an iPad killer then maybe. Or if they get into a lot of manufacturer problems, a la Foxxcon.

I think there's plenty of drama, and it could pick right up where Part 1 started/ended, which would be ironic al by itself because that plot trick is a "how did they get into this mess" trick. Now they could use it as a launch point to show how far they come. They could spend a few minutes on Steve's reaction the the almost shambles of Apple, then the iMac and the initial derisions, then almost immediate imitations.

Slog through the G3 and G4, then really get going in act 2 with the iPod, the and iPhone, Pancreatic cancer, liver transplant, act 3 around the iPad, and ending with a video of Anthony Michael Hall talking about Jealousy...

The Story is ready made, even with new characters like Ive, Cook, and the Google crew.

And that alone might leave a hint to whatever happens between Google Apple and MS open for a yet-to-be-written Part 3...

When i 1st saw this thread i thought you were talking about some cheesy porn film lol.

I don't know, but I loved the first one. I might rewatch that tonight.

Doing so now actually. Its just a great movie even if things where slightly exaggerated, a little.

I love:
The meeting with Gates, Balmer and IBM.
The 1984 Video shown to investors with the faithful employee that returned from Japan and pointing to Gates/Balmer then motioning to the Hi-Abuser for Steve to get the hint.
Love how he consoled with his family.

Anthony Michael Hall made me laugh in Weird Science & in Pretty In Pink. He hasn't gotten a lot of credit ... he's gotten taller and bigger over the years, I don't think he can do a Gates today, but he's VERY talented and has good skills.

I got The Pirates of Silicon Valley from Netflix about 2 months ago and never watched it until tonight after I saw this post. I thought it was pretty good. I think it would be pretty funny if Steve Jobs had a camera following him around 24-7 just so they could film his tantrums as well as his love of firing people on just a whim.
