I've been playing around with the settings on my iPhone 12 and to be honest, LTE is still typically the fastest. I know there is a battery drain component depending on how it is set as well.

Anyway, which 5G settings combo are you settling in on using with your iPhone 12? I'm not listing the "Low Data Mode" for the poll though.

Using LTE / Standard. Turning 5G on drains my battery really fast and makes my phone get hot. Since there isn't a 5G tower within 45 minutes of my location I just turned it off.

I may try a different setting each day or something to see if any benefits in speed. But also leaning towards just setting to LTE like from my "old" 11 Pro.

5G Auto is seeming to be the best performer (at least for me on T-Mobile).

All 3 of these are with the Allow More Data on 5G setting

9:50 PM was 5G On
9:49 PM was LTE
9:47 PM was 5G Auto

After running multiple tests the past 2 days, LTE at my house is the same speed it was on my 11 Pro (which has always been excellent!). 5G is slower. I think the Auto is using whichever it sees as stronger.

Tomorrow I'll leave it on this setting the entire day and see if battery is better as well.

5G auto / standard. Yesterday my battery drained like a leaky sieve but today it’s been fantastic. I’m at 25% 10 hours after taking it off the charger with 7.5 hours total usage in the battery section of settings. Feels on par with my 11 Pro today.

What kind of LTE speed were you getting before you got the iPhone 12? From what I understand with the QualComm modem it is possible to get 2x the performance from LTE.
That’s about what I’m seeing in comparison to my iPad Pro. About 90 Mbps vs 41 Mbps. They are in the same location but are on different plans. I’m not sure if that matters.

I had actually reached 300 mbps+ on LTE with my 11 Pro Max before.

I'm going to try a day back on LTE only. 5G has definitely been draining battery more and I have not seen any increase in speed.

For me, I'd say at a full run-down that LTE would be about 1.5-2.0 hours longer per my usage.
