What imac will you buy

27in, 3.2 Ghz, 8GB RAM, 680MX.

Still debating if Fusion is really necessary. Either 1TB standard or Fusion, probably standard.

High end 27-inch
i7
1TB Fusion
680MX

Ram will be added afterwards, so logic and budget dictates.

1. It's the most "value" for money
2. Being a heavy video editor and casual gamer, this is the one that should me last at least 4 years.

I've actually had a perfect storm of events come together such that I can't even order on the 30th

But when I do, it will be
27"
3.2GHz
680MX
1TB Fusion
$2566 incl NJ state tax

27"
3.4Ghz i7
8GB (already have Corsair 32GB waiting to enter my iMac)
680MX 2GB
3TB Fusion
Trackpad (next to Magic Mouse)
Battery Charger

Today I bought TimeCapsule 2TB.

Still need speakerset though. Thinking about the Soundsticks III.

3.4ghz i7 + 1TB fusion + 2GB GPU

(and I already have my 32GB ram and TB display)

Do I understand correctly - you are buying a 27' imac, but already have the TB display? Other than the usb ports, what is the advantage here?

I'll be using the 27" iMac + TB display + 25" 1080P samsung display (which I already had). I keep a LOT of things open at once when I work, and with the power in this imac vs my 2008 model I'll be keeping even more open at once (since it will be able to handle it)

at the moment I've just got an expensive, pretty black mirror on my desk... hope I don't have to wait more than a few weeks

I currently have the 2011 model, with the high end processor but I would love to have this new iMac, but it's probably just not worth the upgrade.

Looks like high end 27" could be the most popular, seems most people want the high on of each size.

I'll be getting high 27" with 680mx

27" loaded model seems to have a better performance per dollar ratio. I may wait a couple of months to see what issues come up and be hopefully addressed by the time the frenzy settles down.

You that's exactly what I think. Plus I think it is most future proof I should get a good 4years+ from mine

Little mouse in corner says she is going for the least popular one, with 16gbram
But I made my choice, stubborn though it be!

I am guessing this is a bit skewed of what actual sales will look like. People on this forum are the hardcore where I feel like the average user will just grab a base 21" to have a cool looking mac.

I can't understand why all people want the fusion drive for this price.
I mean 250$ for a 128gb SSD?!
Okay, faster boot time and faster start of programs but i think that's not worth the money except for video/photo editors.

Why do many take the 3,2 or even the 3,4 Ghz iMac? What do you guys do on it to justify the "better" 27"?

Or do you mainly get it because of gaming and the better GPU in the 3,2 one?
