I know that a lot of people in these forums (like me) are waiting for the MBP update, but I'm sick of the constant banter of specs, mockups, and other stupid questions that have been plaguing the message board lately.
So just for fun i decided to make this poll with your opinions when the updated MBP will be released.
While there seems to be an imminent update with the Apple Event on Sept. 9th, do you think there will be an update at that event, a silent update later in the month or an October update...

MacBooks and MacBook Pros updated on September 30 (silent or maybe event), October 7 (event), or October 14 (silent).

I voted November because I wanted to screw with the results because these threads are getting annoying.

And just think, an hour after the new machines are put on sale, we'll start wondering when the Core i7 models ship! :D

You need to add one more choice to the poll.

"WHO CARES"

I care. Which makes it an issue of national importance.

Don't you care about this great nation? COMMUNIST! Out with you.

See? It's all laid out logically, ironclad.

You're sick of all the stupid threads prior to a product launch, so you go and make another one.

They'll be updated when Apple is ready.

Man, I know you post a lot and all. But, please, just chill for a moment?

It seems like every thread that you reply to is you saying how stupid it is, flaming, "not-flaming," or something of the sort.

As for the MBs/MBPs, I'm going with late September. Either way, not being bought until 2009 for tax purposes.

Well do people honestly need to start a new thread on the same subject every hour on the hour?

Of the twenty most current threads, four are asking about when new MacBook Pros are coming. And that is just in the last 12 hours.

And one of those threads has almost 80 responses, with the last one two hours ago. What more information are you going to get by starting a new one? None, that is what.

And if you don't want to read 80 responses, fine. Read the last page. Nothing is going to have substantially changed in the last hour that would warrant starting a new thread to get "the latest information".

Are you just upset because you had to purchase the penryn model???
its still a wonerful machine!

Oh, heavens, no. It'll become my mom's once Nehalem MacBook Pros come out, so I don't have to "deal" with this "horribly outdated tech" for very long.

I'm just confused why the moderators don't Time-Out or ban people who make all these threads. They have obviously not read the forum rules, as if they had, they would have searched and if they had searched, they would have found the original ten threads about the next revision of a product.

Totally understand...
are those words in quotes for a reason???
I don't really think the penryn macbook pro is a "horribly outdated machine"
that you would have to deal with
2.6 dual core w/ 6mb l2 cache isnt exactly slow

The quotes are synonymous with the word supposedly, in this case.

As in, supposedly the current models will all instantaneously break once the new ones come out, so therefore we should all wait for the new models. In the meantime, let's all post ten threads per day on how we're mad at Apple for not releasing the new models yesterday.

You see? That's my impression of the general mindset of new posters around the last month or so before an update. Forgive me for making the viewpoint milder than it actually is. :p

Well, if they are coming next week... shouldn't we be hearing about delayed BTO MBP's by now?

Not if Apple still has current stock.

And, god forbid it's just a basic CPU speed bump for the standard models (so the 2.4's become 2.5's and the 2.5's become 2.6's) we might just see the "Russian Roulette" we had with the Mac Mini when they still sold the old ones beside the new ones and changed the packaging to read "starts at x.xxGHz" so they could sell the slower models without violating "Bait and Switch" laws.

Breaking news.... the Montevina chipset has been cancelled, and the Nehalem CPU has been pushed up to NOW! We should be getting quad-core Nehalem-based MBPs in five minutes.

Dual quad-cores as BTO.

=p

Dude, where have you been?

I'm typing on one right now! FedEx just drove up and dropped it off.

And let me tell you, that Petabit optical Ethernet connection sure made transferring the data between my new MBP and my old MBP a snap! Heck, it was done before it started!

:p

Yeah, I understand how tense things get around the time of an update! Whether it be tension from long-timers that know how things like this usually work or it be from new-comers that just post a bunch! Either way, we're all just here for the same thing.
