Just upgraded from a 3 to a 7 data and am blown away how short the battery life is. It lasts one day of being used just as a watch and a half hour work out and that’s it. Anyone got an idea whether this is normal? Apple did a remote check and said I should use it on power saving mode in the day. Are they kidding?!

check your various settings, esp background refresh settings for apps, check your display brightness.
I typically have ~ 90 minutes of workout per day and end the day at ~ 30% battery, ~ 16+hrs of use, which I am happy with.
It took around 10 days for the battery life to stabilize, I remember the first few days I was in the 10-20% range

from my experience the battery life isn't the best the first couple weeks. I'm not sure if it's the battery "loosening up" over the first few charging cycles, the watch calibrating the battery , the OS doing background work/sync, or simply me playing with a new toy a bit more. It's probably a combination of them all.

You'll also get your best battery life if the watch is close to your phone the entire day. If it's switching over to wifi your battery life will be impacted, or it goes to cellular it will be even worse.

after a week or 2 if it still hasn't improved, I'd try an un-pair and repair

Try disabling always on display.

I updated last night and it is doing better today. Took off charger at 9:43am and it is 4:54pm and at 71%. Tomorrow will be a good test as I will be out and about all day.

Massive fail. Took off charger at 7am and at 7pm it was at 15%. This thing is going back.

I’m using AOD on my AW 7 (41mm). I don’t use SPO2 or sleep tracking or hand washing malarkey or walk-in talkie etc. I use the modular watch face with complications. I charge my watch every morning while I’m in the shower. I charged it this morning after 24 hours use and it was down to 53%. That’s without any GPS activity. If I’d done approx 2 hours activity (golf, walking or running) it would have been down to about 40%. I think the battery life is really good considering the 18 hour spec. I have brightness on minimum and background app refresh turned off. I only have messages, WhatsApp notifications - no emails or FB or FB Messenger. It takes about 30 or 40 minutes to charge it and I only charge to 90/95%. It seems more polished than my AW 6 was.

Although I don’t mind charging everyday, I think Apple really need to improve the battery life on the next revision. The Garmin Epix 2/Venu 2 have laid down the challenge with battery longevity on an OLED device with other brands sure to follow.

Totally agree. Although my AW battery life is ok, it could be a lot better. I have Garmin watches too - a Fenix 5x and a Venu 2s. What I can’t understand is that my Venu 2S (oled screen) only uses 3 - 5 % overnight when I’m wearing it but my AW will use anywhere between 10 and 15% overnight without wearing it, in airplane mode and theatre mode. Surely Apple can improve on that when the watch is supposedly not doing anything and the display is off all night. I even have my analytics turned off as well.

Maybe mine is defective. I bought two (Black Titanium and Black Hermes). The one I am using is the black titanium one. Going to return that one and try the black Hermes and see if it makes a difference.

I’ve had my Series 7 for less than a week and was surprised to see the battery life drain as much as it did the first few days, however, I attribute that to me playing with my new toy a bunch ? As of this morning at around 8a, I had charged it up to about 95%. As of right now at 4:20p ?… I still have 78%. No complaints here! Loving my ? watch ?

Get that battery Replaced ASAP .

I routinely get 48 hours out of one charge on my W7. I do one work out per day. I have background refresh turned off on all apps that I don't care about... I keep DOCK to "recent" as opposed to "favorites", I turn off AOD... I also turn off location services that aren't important... like does Spotify really need to know where I am?

48 hrs, all the time!

I get 36 hours out of mine now with latest watch os. Previous versions were worse, 8.3 is best so far.
I have theatre mode on during night and AOD is off during day. Those two actions really help. No downloads but use all day and 30 minutes exercise and I do look at it a lot but still happy with battery life. Although I agree with others I really would like to see 2-3 days, not 1.5.

Noticing standby battery drain is a lot worse on the S7 compared to the S6.

I'm new to AW so S7 is my first one. Charging seems easy and I charge for about 30 minutes while having my morning coffee and around 30 minutes while I eat dinner. It never gets close too low. It will also charge from 20% to 80% in less than an hour if needed but it doesn't get that low since I started the morning/evening thing.

Is there any way to get more details about battery usage? I mean apps, maybe connecting to coconutbattery etc.

At 7:30 am I got up with 100% on my Series 5 watch and then walked outside for about 1 mile with cellular turned on and now at 1:00pm my watch shows 83%... usually when I go to bed before I put it on the charger it shows 40-50% battery left..... that is why I stuck with the series 5

yeah my series 7 always tends to die before 9pm if I don't charge it when I get home from work. mainly if I do a workout like a 3 mile walk.
