MacBook, OS 10.5.6
Driver: CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.3
Using Photodisc printer test page (JPEG)

Test page looks good when printed from Win XP under VM Fusion
Test Page was dark and grainy when printed from OS 10 using Preview
- Driver was Gutenprint v5.1.3
- Color Profile is "Automatic", which selects "sRGB IEC61966-2.1"
I updated the driver, per MisterMe's suggestion. This removed much of the graininess, but the colors are still not bright. Grayscale bar is darker and has dots all the way to the very end, where it should be white.

I would appreciate any suggestions about how to continue to improve the color under Mac OS.

Thank you.

Why are you using an obsolete version of Gutenprint?

Thanks for calling my attention to this. Gutenprint 5.1.3 is the version Apple ships with OS 10.5.6, which I purchased in late January.

See update of original post regarding 5.2.3.
