I just got a new Imac 2.8Ghz Core 2 Duo, 4 gigs of RAM, and purchased Parallels Desktop v4. It is the latest build, 3844. I installed XP Pro on there, loaded up SP2 and SP3... And then installed Sony Soundforge V6 (yeah I know they are on v9, but v9 is not known to work at all with Parallels and plus V6 is so much better!).

Anyway, simply playing back a song in Sound Forge (without doing anything) is using up 135% of my CPU time (I'm assuming it's actually only using 67% since it's a dual core). My computer is sluggish AND playback is periodically skipping.

Even Internet Explorer seems very laggy. I used to have a Macbook Pro 2.0GHZ core duo and I don't recall Parallels V3 being this laggy.

I have RAM allocated to 1 gig. What other settings can I adjust to improve performance? Or is V4 of Parallels just a POS??

It doesn't seem like rocket science to me, but who knows... Any ideas, this is the ONLY program I need to use in Windows, and I would prefer to not have to use bootcamp since I *HATE* windows, and that would severely cramp my style... And unfortunately, they DO NOT make Soundforge for the Mac, and Bias Peak and Wave Editor BOTH suck compared to Sound Forge...
