I have the USB/HDMI adapter and I have been using my MacBook in clamshell mode connected to an external display and bluetooth keyboard/mouse. This is the same setup in which I used my old MacBook Air for ~4 years with no issues.
Today I was troubleshooting poor wifi performance, when I noticed that my speeds improved dramatically when I opened the lid.
Lid open: 20+ Mbps speedtest.
Lid closed: 2 to 5 Mbps max speedtest.
Interestingly upload is about 4 Mbps either way.
Have any others had this problem? Are there any apps or tools you know of that can help me analyze my WLAN throughput speeds?
(For what it's worth, my iPhone in the same spot gets 40 Mbps down :/ )
