A friend is having problems with a pop up message containing Maclean in the wording. Any ideas what it is and how to get rid?

Cheers, Macjim.

With what browser, browsing what websites and on what Mac OS X version does this appear?
Maybe it is just an ad?

If you or your friend are worried about malware (trojans, viruses, worms, spyware), read and/ or send the follwoing:
Mac Virus/Malware Info by GGJstudios
There are currently no viruses for Mac OS X in public circulation, only a handful of trojans and other malware, which have to be installed manually via entering the administrator password.
The only anti-virus you need to protect your Mac is education and common sense.

As far as I know it's Safari. Illness if I can find out more

Cheers, Macjim.

It's happening on the main screen of his desktop.

Additional info: on both MacBook pro and iMac and running 10.6.7.

You mean MacClean or MacDefender? They are just browser popups or popunders for scamware or scareware, not a problem really. Browsers can be set to block popups, but there's often a way to defeat it and you get a popunder. not much you can do about it except simply close the window.

Maclean. He gets the pop up on the screen saver. Odd

Cheers, Macjim.
