I'm currently running OS 10.6.8 on my 2009 Mac Mini and about 2 days ago I started getting annoying pop up type web sites saying my Mac is infected with a Virus and I should use their programs to clean it. I know this is a scam.

Does anyone know how can I fix this problem?

Download and run MalwareBytes for Mac. Will take about 5 minutes to download & scan.

Unfortunately, that requires at least OS 10.8 to run.

The site here has some tips: http://www.thesafemac.com/arg/
Because you're using a very old version of OS X you'll need to follow the manual removal steps linked in step 1b.

Bah, didn't click for me that MWB wouldn't run on Snow Leopard. Thank you for correcting!
