Popping sound from speakers post firmware update

Hey everyone.


I was reluctant to update my 27inch i5 iMac with the new graphics card firmware update since I wasn't having any flickering issues. I finally caved in and did it thinking that nothing bad will happen, well of course something did.

Ever since I updated it yesterday my computer makes a distinct and random popping sound from the speakers, it is soft but audible in my quiet room when I am working and it is driving me crazy.

Has anyone else noticed this problem?

I had some loud popping noises on my second machine.
it was a week 52 and was the worst of three i've now used.
my third and current one seems to be working fine since I've had it.
