Port and Cable Questions

I hope to buy a new 2015 MBP the day after Labor Day when I have satisfied my credit card's minimum payment and I have free credit.

Any advice on what cables or adapters I might need along with the purchase of the laptop?

On my current 2012 MBP, I have an external HDD that I use for backups, a hotspot that I charge using USB, and a USB phone headset that I use to make phone calls. Sometimes I use my Bose earbuds to listen to music. Other than that, I think that is pretty much everything I do currently.

I do not currently do anything with external montors or hi-def.

Assuming that the external HDD is USB, your current cables should all work. You might want an ethernet to Thunderbolt adaptor if you need ethernet for anything (like for instance, an initial backup to a TimeCapsule).
