Hello,

So my Macbook Pro (circa 2007, intel core 2 duo, 17" , 250 GB HDD, 4 GB RAM) is starting to really run out of room. I've been trying to limit what I store on the computer, and was really hoping iCloud music would have been streaming (That'd free up 40GB for me to use!), but its getting tedious.

So i had this idea: why not just take my laptop around with a 1.5 TB disk! This drive i was looking at seems to have firewire 800 and 400, along with the painfully slow USB 2.0.

The drive seems to fulfill a few of my desires:
1) Can boot from the Firewire Port/USB port alone, no DC chord needed.
2) Very large space
3) Reasonable spin-speed
4) somewhat slim/portable

Ideally, I can just plop my laptop down wherever, and startup holding OPTION, and then select this drive just like any other start-up disk, correct?

And if i am going out of town to a place where i have another computer (my second house has a nice new iMac), i can just plug it in and viola, I have all my laptop's info without lugging around this 17" MBP behemoth!

So i turn to you forumgoers: Will this drive suit my needs? Can i format it in Mac OS X journaled, copy my current computer over to it, and then from here on out use it as my boot drive??
