The following is the strategy I'm planning to use to Capture HDV on MBP 2.6GHZ 4GBRAM in ProRes422 for editing ease etc. All comments or suggestions are more than welcome.

1. Use a Sony HD tape Deck that can play both NTSC/PAL HD mini tapes or full size with a HD component output. Have not decided which one yet. This will allow me to play the tapes regardless of what camera was used I think. This is critical so advice here is more than welcome.

2. Play the tapes via HD component output to an AJA IO HD and convert to ProRes422 and send to FCP on the FW 800.

3.Use a Sonnet 34 express card for The SATA HD (scratch Disk). I already have some HD's Gtechs but need more. What would be a good choice?

4.Use one of Square Box's apps for Cataloging.

Well that's a lot of stuff I just hope I'm on the right track and not missed anything.

Thanks.

It would be better if you connect the deck to the ioHD with digital connection (HD-SDI or HDMI) rather than analog.

Other than that, you're plan seems good.
