Some time ago, I saw the "Portable Digital Media Lab" at the apple site for education. But now it seems gone, does anybody know if this is still available?
I really liked the idea of your digital media all together in one case, perfectly fitted, and since I'm starting as a student next year and in need of a digital camera and videocamera, I could really use such a thing.
Via Google, I got this image:

It's an institutional purchase thing - if you log in to the edu store as an administration, not as an individual, you'll see the options there. Right now it doesn't look like they've got a setup with a single computer and camcorder - I found the standard 10 ibook setup, and then there's an add-on - "Digital Media Creation Kit ", that has a few cameras and a few camcorders thrown in. Not quite the setup you're looking for, as it's really meant for an institution. here's the text on the digi creation kit:

What's included:

Two Canon PowerShot A430 4MP Digital Cameras Canon Inc.
This solution includes two Canon PowerShot A430 Digital Cameras. Each camera is equipped with 4.0 megapixels of resolution, a 4x optical zoom and a variety of shooting modes. The camera's 1.8" LCD display provides an excellent view, both for shooting and reviewing images.
Two Canon ZR500 Digital Camcorders Canon Inc.
This camcorder offers a variety of features including a 2.7" LCD display, an easy-to-read menu system, a joystick that operates playback, focus, exposure and menu options, Widescreen HR recording, pre-programmed auto exposure settings, a microphone port, a FireWire/DV Terminal and Canon's advanced image stabilization system.
M-Audio O2 25-Key Ultra-Thin Mobile USB MIDI Controller M-Audio
This mobile USB MIDI controller features 25 full-size, half-action, velocity-sensitive keys, along with eight fully assignable knobs, eight fully assignable buttons and other real-time control features for performance and programming. One simple USB connection serves as both a MIDI interface and bus power source.
The Macintosh iLife '05 in the Classroom book Peachpit Press
This book and companion DVD teaches how to use the iLife applications and provides suggestions and detailed lesson plans for using iLife to engage and motivate students.
Documentary Resource Materials Apple Computer, Inc.
This useful kit includes a National History Day DVD "Using iMovie to Create a Documentary," "Stories Worth Telling: A Guide to Creating Student-Led Documentaries," and a Documentary Resource CD that provides lesson plans, examples of student-created documentaries, how-to guides, templates, and student handouts.

Thanks, but indeed not really what I was looking for.
