Portable drive for video editing? Samsung T1?

Has anyone tried the Samsung Portable SSD T1 1TB drive for video editing?

The real world speed seems up there with SSDs on thunderbolt

Will it only work for HD or can you do playback in 4k (which normally stutters on USB3)?

Will it hold up in 4k in Premiere if you keep it to 1/4 resolution?

(Of course the LaCie Little Big Disk Thunderbolt 2 is ideal for speed and portability, but it is more than twice the price)

USB3 is fast enough for playback of 4K video (compressed).
You need a fast processor too for smooth playback.

I did look at the palm raid

I read it is maxes out at about 680 MB/s real world reads

It looks good, I was just wondering if it was possible to "get away with" the Samsung T1 SSD at 400ish MB/s real world reads because you can get 1TB for $480 instead of 512GB with the Palm Raid for $600

I also wonder how much thunderbolt will improve the performance of the palm raid (or any SSD) vs USB3
