Just ordered 16” MBP M1 Max and thru reading I see that my current G Tech 2 TB ssd is not being recognized on the M1’s since Monterrey. It works fine on my 2019 16” Intel so it’s a combo of Monterrey and M1 chipset obviously.

G Tech used to be very Mac centric. Apple still sells them but the forum at G Tech has way too many that show drives not being recognized at all. Their tech support tells you to downgrade the Mac OS (crazy) and format as ex fat ?

So hoping some here have a brand they are using for Time Machine that is fast and problem free.

Oyen Digital makes high quality drives and is recommended by Bombich for Carbon Copy Cloner:

I’ve had two of them so far (needed to upgrade from 1TB to 2TB for backing up 3 different computers) and no issues. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for.
