I am trying to set up a snow leopard client for a user with a portable home directory. The user can connect with macbook pro running 10.5 just fine. However, when the user tries to login from a new 10.6 machine, he gets the error:

"You are able to log into the user account XXX at this time. Logging into the account failed because an error occurred"

I have bound the 10.6 client to the 10.5 server through the new "Prefs -> Users -> login" method. I see a green light and the name of the networked server. In addition, I can log into the local admin account on the 10.6 client and mount the user's home directory with the user's user name and password.

I am running out of things to try. Any ideas?

Try deleting the user account in WGM and re-adding it. Or setup a temp account and try it again.

You can also try to unbind the machine from the directory, and rebind it, and see if the problem still exists.
