Hi, I plan on buying an iPhone in the coming week/month (whenever it becomes available.) When I get the iPhone, I will be signing up for a 2-year contract plan (the $59/m one)

Right now I'm using an ATT GoPhone as my main cellphone, so the GoPhone's number is the number that all my friends/family/clients know.

I'd find it extremely preferable to keep my number when I get an iPhone + plan, is it possible to do that?

Is there any way of taking that prepaid number, and bringing it over when I start a 2-year contract with ATT? I don't want to have to change my number. I assume this is possible since I'm not even going to be changing carriers, but I don't know for sure.

Could anybody give me an idea of how to go about this?

just ask them.
all you are doing is changing your Plan i suppose.
im not on AT&T, but its the same with all providers.

Nope, GoPhone nbers don't port to anywhere. There is a solution, though.

One option is to just get the new number, and set your old number to forward to the new one. Keep the account active for long enough to let everyone know.

Youight also be able to just add the iPhone to your current plan, and keep your number.
