My fiance and I want to port our old cellphone numbers from different carriers onto a family plan with AT&T and both get the 3G iphone. is this possible, or does a family plan have to have consecutive numbers?

Also, is it possible for only one of us to be present in the store to do this with the whole in-store activation thing? We are trying to avoid if possible both of us having to wait in line as we are very busy and can never seem to find a good time to basically do nothing for 2+ hours?

Yes you can both keep your numbers, not sure about only one of you being there for the activation though. Everything I've heard points to each person needing to be there to purchase and activate the phone.

I opened a family plan for me and my partner We had an account with Verizon that was in his name.

The AT&T account is in my name. They let me port our numbers from Verizon. I just had to have his ssn.

did you do this at an Apple store, or at AT&T?
