Hello . I just discovered PortingKit , some software that lets you play some PC games on Mac. In another post, Queen6 mentioned use of source ports. What other tricks are there to play PC games on Mac? Which ones are safe?

I have games in my steam and GOG libraries mostly retro (pre-2010) and I would like to play on my Mac instead of having to switch to a PC. Its just so much more convenient. So far I have been using only official mac releases but those cover a small part, only 35/100 games in my GOG library has a mac release.

I already know about parallels which you do not want to do on a laptop, and CrossOver which I have beef with. They want you to subscribe for $64 yearly or $450 lifetime but no guarantees on any software.

@MacBH928 have you ever considered Whisky ?
It's free and works pretty well. It was just updated with Game Porting Toolkit 2.0
Here's a video of the latest news.

hey, thanks. As a none-technical person its getting confusing: Wine, WineSkin, Whisky, Crossover, Game Porting Toolkit, PortingKit. I have no idea what the differences are. I checked Whisky and it seems like Apple Silicon only and I am still on intel, but I will keep it on the radar for the future.

If you are still on Intel, bootcamp is good.
