Hopefully this is just a weird thing my MacBook is doing and nothing serious!

Every time I turn it on, wake it up, or randomly when I'm using it, the DVD drive makes the noise as if I'm putting in a DVD. No message pops up and no programs try to start and nothing is visibly around that area - and DVDs and CDs all load just fine - it just makes the noise when there's nothing in there.

Does anyone know why and is this something that I should bother taking into the Apple store or is it just something weird to ignore?

Thanks so much!

Valerie

If you have installed all the latest updates, this should not be happening. it is a software issue, not a hardware issue.

Do you have a source for that? I have all updates and it still makes the noise, but it makes sense since the drive is getting powered on.
