My gen 1 MM has been behaving erratically as of late. I typically use the gen 1 touch pad for surfing, scrolling, and a few gestures, but the precision of a mouse is hard to beat for graphic editing, photo retouches and other detail work.

Recently, my MM1 has been sort of acting on its own, like scrolling, selecting, even clicking on links without the requisite input from me. And even when I do have my hand on it, the sensitivity seems to have increased lately by quite a bit. I haven't found anything so far about "cleaning the contacts" or some other standard maintenance method for this item. The mouse has been kept in a relatively clean work area for it's existence, and I do occasionally wipe it down lightly with the standard care reserved for electronic equipment.

Getting a new mouse is simple enough, but I prefer to insure there are no reasonable options overlooked.

So do these things just fizzle out after a while?
