Hello, I have an iPhone 3G that I have had jailbroken and unlocked for sometime now. I have upgraded to the latest firmware, 3.1.2, and have been very happy with using it for the past 2 months.

Up until yesterday, I have never had any problems with the phone. Now my phone refuses to go from the portrait view to the landscape view. The crazy thing is that the accelerometer works when I shake it to reload a facebook page, and shuffle music. I have tried all of the standard fixes: soft reset, hard reset, and even restored it to factory settings.

I am thinking that it is a hardware issue, but this phone is out of the one year warranty. I am stationed a an Army base that is far from the closest Apple store. I would appreciate it anyone could offer some help.
