Well today updated to 10.11.6 and now gets hot.

Cut out on me today.

Also my charger charge light went off on the plug and the adapter block got quite hot.

I was then using a generic replacement at work but don't want to as bad quality.

not tried my mac charger again yet.

will do over weekend.

Will apple store redo the HT compound on the cpu for me.

I looked today but don't want ruin my mac doing it myself

it got hot with original and cut out.

ran rest of day on compatible unit.

Im weary of the original charger now after it cut out, after getting very hot and no light on laptop plug

compatible unit did not get hot though.

Well my original charger is toast :(

been using my m8s compatible charger and works but it gets very hot.

Took another compatible out of stock at work today.
it is better as not so hot but still very warm.

Need new charger.
Do they make a 80/85w 16.5v charger or only 18.5v?

If higher wattage will it have more overhead and not get so hot as not running at its limit?

Thanks guys/gals

Bought a genuine charger.
the 85w model.

That too is getting quite warm while charging macbook.

Also my CPU is running at 82 degrees.
Downloaded an app to monitor temp as was getting pretty hot.

Motherboard at 72 degrees

battery and HDD are cool at around 32 degrees.

The tip of new charger is metal and this gets pretty warm to hot while charging my macbook.

This is not normal is it?
Should I be worried?

EDIT:

It OK now turned out was chrome helper running my CPU at 129%.
Turned off auto play pluggin and now CPU sits at around 60 degrees.

Also not less RAM used now, saved about 1.2GB of RAM being used.

Charger and magsafe tip still pretty warm to hot when charging.
compatible tip not hot while charging only power pack.
