So i am going to upgrade my HD on my MBP. putting in a 320gb hd, question though, i want to be able to turn on my MBP and it be exactly like it was before the upgrade.

how do i go about doing this?

the original MBP hd is backed up on time machine which is on a external HD, so can i just upload the time machine backup to my newly upgraded HD?

Use Disk Utility to take a disk image of your HDD. Store it on an external drive.

Swap out drives, then mount the image on you new HDD.

I did this with my MacBook upgrading from 120 to 320, and all is EXACTLY the same. Even down to email settings and iCal events.
