I have an early 2011 15" MBP (2.0 i5) running Mountain Lion that I upgraded to 16GB using crucial recommended memory. I'm not seeing the performance gains I thought I might, but the bigger issue is that twice in the 2 weeks since, my computer has crashed, both times while connected to a projector as a 2nd screen. The screen freezes and a bunch of random "color splotches" appear and I'm left with nothing to do but power down and restart. I've seen this behavior before with this machine when I was on Lion, again using third party RAM (8GB), so I can only assume it's the memory. But it hadn't happened in a long time so I just assumed that ML fixed the problem but it seems it didn't.
