Hi All,
I think I have a slight issue with my 7200rpm 500gb seagate drive.

Once or twice every hour it seems to stop and start up again. Kinda klicks. It causes my computer to freeze for about 3 seconds.

Whats causing it? Is it faulty?

I should also mention that it didn't do this when i first got it.

This is the model without the SMS.

Heres the smart status if it's of any use:

I think the common problem where Apple don't have a solution yet available.

If you search this forum on click and beep you get more information.

In my opinion: Log a case at apple for registration because harddisk replacements sometimes works but on others not. Hopefully Apple get the point and look into the firmware/powermgnt MAC-OS.

Look at the click beep HD thread - sometimes it clicks, and freezes momentarily, but doesn't necessarily beep. (some see much longer system freezes).

What model is it year etc? Standard Apple provided 7,200rpm drive for that model at the time?

Well mines the late 2008 mbp and i recently put this drive inside it. I replaced the stock 320gb one. Mine does not beep.
